Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Core Responsibilities
Western Vet Group’s RVT’s use their skills and education to the highest extent of their abilities. RVT’s must have strong leadership skills and the ability to teach their fellow veterinary technician team. These accomplished individuals have proven proficiency and talents across multiple platforms, such as:
- Technical proficiency in friendly or fear-free patient handling
- Accurately triaging patients
- Administering medications, vaccines and other treatments
- Providing post-operative care to patient
- Performing basic wound care
- Venipuncture
- IV catheter placement
- Assisting with surgical and dental procedures
- Anesthesia monitoring
- Taking digital radiographs
- Properly collecting and preparing samples for submission to outside laboratories or in-house testing
- Assist in medical equipment maintenance and inventory
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures
- Assist in implementing staff training and development programs
- Accurately handling and recording controlled substances
- Accurate digital medical record management
- Knowledge of veterinary medical pharmacology and terminology
- Client education
Job Requirements
- Must have a valid Registered Veterinary Technician Certificate issued by the California State Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine.
- Must have a minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on veterinary technician experience.
- You will be working in a progressive and fast-paced environment, must be a positive team player and excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and be well-versed in animal restraint.
