To be blunt, my architect and his design team let me down in this manner and it still disappoints me out how their firm treated this project. Right now Paul and Smith and Severson are my guardian angels and I need to pick up the pieces and continue to move ahead. Initial structural engineering missed very large aspects of the support of the building that is now only becoming apparent. They had 8 months and an empty building to do all the engineering they needed. 8 MONTHS! Talk about wasted time and wasted money on piece of dirt on Crenshaw Blvd. So now we need to keep going, more time….did I say lots more money. We’ll get through it, but as anyone who knows me well might agree, I dont terminate relationships with people often. I tend to give 2nd and 3rd chances to those I have trusted in the past. In this case, I was forced to make a decision which I should have made months ago. My architect and his team which treated this project as an afterthought just got the boot. And I feel greeeeeat about it as the entire project will benefit from not having them stand in our way. Not often Dr. Z vents a bit but
In the veterinary profession, we tend to pride ourselves on a certain standard of honesty, integrity and communication. I’ve learned that how things are presented will greatly affect the outcome of our “treatment” expectations and ultimately the clients understanding of each process and the expense involved. I believe that this is part of the reason that WVG has created such a loyal, dedicated client base. I insist my staff to hold these same standards and of course, expect those I embrace and trust to do the same, both personally and professionally.
on with the show….
